‘Stacks’ are an on going investigation from Christabel Wigley. Christabel is interested in the balance of stacking a collective of objects creating one object, blurring a solid object by the spacing between them and the movement.

Those of you familiar with Christabels work will know her for her mega 7mtr plus sculptures, these are a change in direction. Made from Charred White QLD cypress and steel, these three ‘stacks’ stand at 2660mm, 2340mm, 1940mm. Christabel is enjoying working in this more intimate and accessible scale. ‘Stacks’ are suitable for both interior and exterior placement.

At CSC we now have 3 cabinets of jewellery and glass art. Sarah Dingwall has joined us, and alongside Ange Winter and Ruth Williams we are now quite a hub for individual, artisan, wearable creations.

Sarah works with glass through a process known as flameworking, all of her wearables are made with borosilicate glass, a hard type of glass that is stable and quite resistant to shock! Sarah often uses glass as a means to capture and display found objects from her favourite place – the backyard. She finds that nature provides many a wonder to keep her mind fresh. Come and check out her colourful and funky range.

Very happy to have a couple of works in the gallery by Mike Nicholls. Mike Nicholls was a founding member of the Melbourne anti-establishment art collective ROAR. He has now opted for a much simpler life making timber sculptures on his farm in Narre Warren.

For over 30 years Mike has maintained an unwavering passion for expressive sculptural figure work, which he has honed to a masterly precision. These days his work is increasingly pared back, an artist of compelling originality, his works both celebrate and re-imagine the modernist traditions upon which he draws.

Horizontal Rabbit#2 is an indoor work left in its raw ply with a heavy duty matt varnish.

Joannes other works include horses, kangaroos and cattle, ranging from these indoor works to full size outdoor works created in ply or steel and often finished in bright 2pac colours.
